Terri, thank you so much for sharing your book, and your story with me.  How inspiring!  As you know, we had a great response after we had you on as a guest.  May God bless you as you continue to share the story of you and your son!

What a story! Just the events are enough to make a box office hit, but the real story is the one of the power which only God can give. Terri is the genuine thing when it comes to test and testimony!  Her book tells the story from the inside. Every local church and pastor in the metroplex of Dallas and Fort Worth knows of the horrible bus crash which happened June 24, 2002 as the youth group were traveling I-20 toward their summer camp. Five died and many were severely injured…now we know the rest of the story. You will do well to help her spread this story of hope to a hopeless world.

What Single word could we use to describe how incredible and inspiring this book, "You May Have A PH.D. but I know God", Could we say, WOW, Awesome or Astonishing?  These words all fall short of our description and feelings as we plunged into this inspiring story of not only Jeremy but a faith filled loving family that was with him all the way, and was willing to sacrifice all to be at his side.  What I believe is learned by this book is with God there is nothing impossible, and that there is no odds that cannot be overcome when we put our total faith and trust in God.

This book was not written for a one time blessing, but will reach into the many years to come and be a great source of encouragement to many of folks who will be going through and facing similar situations.
-Jerry and Clarice Colegrove

In response to the book written by sister Arnett concerning her son, Jeremy, all the events that transpired regarding this crash -- from the first notification and throughout the painful months that followed were recorded with great detail, depth, genuine compassion, under the stress of a broken heart, continuous prayer and a humbling faith.

Shock, anger, tears, disbelief clouded this traumatic experience -- Terri knew that her God is faithful and although having to deal with the fine line of living and dying -- she stood on God's promises that HE would make a way, guide and direct all those health care providers that cared for Jeremy. That the testimony of Jeremy surviving was for everyone to behold that God is able when we stand on HIS word.

“You May Have a PHD; But I Know GOD” is an amazing story of God’s grace and healing power. This book is a very easy read, because the author let’s her faith and personality shine through. It is written, just like she is sitting in the room with you telling the story. Praise God for a family who wouldn’t allow negative words give Satan a foothold on a situation. One more time, what Satan meant for evil; God used to glorify Himself. Your heart will be blessed and your faith will be strengthened by this story.
-Ed Cantrell

I found this book to be a portrait of human-nature coming face to face with God's grace and a poignant account of what one would surely feel as a "walk through the valley of the shadow of death" but knowing full well that God was your shepherd through it all.  Terri has shared Jeremy's story and her's in such a way that you can find laughter where it might seem impossible to find any humor, you feel her pain and his in such a way that it evokes your own self-examination "faith" check and she tells the real story.  She allows us to see the human in her through her "Unbiblical Moments" (her song, not mine) and she allows us to see God at work in her life through her unwavering faith and determination to see Jeremy fully healed by his word.  As a parent, a mother, and a Christian I feel this book is a must read!
-Nancy Robbins

In a room beyond the glare of media lights, Dad and Mom sift through boxes of debris. They sort through personal belongings of teenagers: toothbrushes, pillows, t-shirts, musical instruments, shorts, hairbrushes, and sleeping bags. They stack them into separate categories—those living, those dead. Then they drive to Tyler , Texas , passing the scarred roadside where four teens they love have died. They go to comfort the family of severely injured Jeremy De Shazo, their 17-year-old left for dead. The horror of the Metro bus crash comes home to me in a personal way.

Chapter One of You May Have a Ph.D.—but—I Know G.O.D. throws an immediate gut-punch as Terri Arnett descends into a parent’s worst nightmare. You feel her despair upon hearing that teenagers at the scene call their parents with the news, “I’m alive,” but her reassurance never comes. From there Terri takes you on her journey of burning pain, immovable faith. Meeting her Jeremy today, you would never know he had been given up for dead. His life is a testimony to a loving and merciful God and a mother’s unconquerable determination to see her son whole.

You May Have a Ph.D.—but—I Know G.O.D. is an excellent book, Terri a down-to-earth Christian who immediately puts you at ease. She delivers a story worth sharing and concludes with an excellent guide for anyone who has ever asked, “What can I do to help?”

I was surprised by the quality of writing.  At several points, I was unprofessional because I had to dry an eye. All the best to your family.

This book is not only a inspiration for believers but for non-believers alike.  This book really touched my heart.  I was there as a transporter for Jeremy.  To see what this family went through and now to know what happened after they left Mother Francis Hospital is great.  While Jeremy was in Mother Francis I had the privilege to help him be a little more comfortable in his recovery.  I will never forget getting the call on my radio to move patient De Shazo from his room on the pediatric floor to whirl pool.  When I realized who this patient was, I knew he needed very special care being moved.  I believe in my heart that this why God sent me to him. He was so sweet and later I found myself stopping by to check in on him, even if it was just to say.  “Hi.”  I would try and make sure I had the time just to say that one word.  Terri is also a wonderful person. She is one of the most sincere people that I know and I am so glad I had the honor of getting to know not only Jeremy, but Terri, too. After reading the book, "You may have a PhD but I know GOD" - if I didn't already know this family, I would have known them just from the book.
–Misty Musick Spencer

While I read Terri’s book I saw so much of myself. I not only saw myself through the eyes of a mother but as a Christian struggling to keep our eyes on only Jesus in the midst an enormous storm. The phrase “practice what you preach” describes the ministry of Terri Arnett. She was put to the ultimate test and passed with flying colors. Bless the ones you love by giving them this powerful read.

I was with Terri the day the accident happened and experienced along with her the sorrow and devastation.  But I also experienced her depth faith in a God that could not fail.  Although she had her ups and downs, one thing remained consistent and that was her faith that Jeremy would fully recover.  This book is a hard read but also has humor which makes it easier on the heart.  She is very real in what she wrote and for me, this is what we all need – someone we can relate to.  She is my dear friend and has a heart to help others.  This is why she wrote the book.
-Jerri Vincent

Courage In Its Finest Hour – Terri Arnett writes a terrific book about the survival of her son, Jeremy despite terrible odds. Her faith in God and the support of her family give her the strength to believe in Jeremy's recovery and deepens her faith in the process. The reader will feel Terri's anguish and ultimate jubilation as they are taken on a roller coaster ride from moments after the accident until the triumphant end. A must read for every parent!

This is a genuine story of Faith.  This book is a must read for anyone who is struggling in a tough time. This is an incredible story of miracles and answered prayer. Terri writes this from a place of faith and humility. She has the ability to put those feelings in a written form that will surely touch you. You will see God through her writing. This book is also for anyone who wants to be inspired. Her son is a blessing and an example that God does perform miracles and answers big prayers, and
blesses those who have real believing faith

This book is a wonderful, inspiring testimonial to the power of faith. Ms. Deshazo Arnett gives an insightful record into her personal believe in God during a very trying personal crisis. As in every life, there are trials which test your personal strengths whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual. The story of her son's struggle to overcome a near death experience is nothing short of miraculous. She gives a truthful account of the inward journey which brought both her and her family through the many agonizing days and weeks after the event. This book is a must read for all who have had doubts or questions about their personal beliefs.
-Glen B.

The book "You May Have A PhD, but I Know God" is a real life account of how the application of God's Word reversed the tragedy of death into the miracle of life.  Seldom have authors of Christian books been able to quote the specific Word of God and actually see what they said! I highly recommend this book as a first hand testimony of the effects of the spoken Word.  It is a "must read" for those in serious need.

What an amazing story!  I remember the accident and remember the prayer request that KLTY asked.  I am so glad to hear how God saved your son.  What an answer to prayer!  He has an amazing story to glorify God.  God bless you and your family!

I have read the book “You May Have A PHD, But I Know GOD”, and believe me, it touched me deep simply because I know Terri personally and I know what a devoted mother she is and how the family took God by the hand as he led them through this terrible chapter in their lives. Jeremy is  such a brave young man and he has been through so much pain, yet he stands tall and is proud to be alive and able to say that God pulled him through this.  He is a real trooper and I will always have the utmost respect for him and his mom and dad.  They are truly blessed, as I am for knowing them as my friends.

I am an associate with the Mardel store in Mesquite and a deacon at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church.  I’ve just read your book – what a blessing it is to me and to the customers who have bought it.  We can’t keep enough on our shelves.  I just wanted to add this personal appreciation for your deep faith and courage.  I have two daughters and five grandchildren, three of whom are boys.  If I can have even one live up to your and Jeremy’s example, I’ll be one proud papa!  Again, there’s no way I can ever know what you’re endured, but you and I know the same Lord who got you through it.

-Robert Sanderson

This story of Terri's walk of faith will inspire you and give you hope.  She is genuine and transparent during the times of doubt as she allows God to strengthen her enough to trust Him. Her story provides encouragement as over and over, she and her family rely on God's faithfulness.  Knowing His word and keeping it constantly in her heart and mind gives her-and will give you-triumph over despair.

When your back is against the wall and you're desperate for a miracle, take it from me...it will be your faith in the Devine that will outshine the facts from your degree.  This is the principle of the book and the promise of its author.

Terri Arnett has captured the true essence of reaching the heart of the Father through the one and only way that moves the hand of God. She shares how to be a victor and not be the victim when faced with overwhelming odds by believing and standing on the unchanging Word of God. This book will build up the Spirit of the Living God in anyone who will open his heart as a child and simply believe the report of the Lord.

It is a personal privilege to recommend the book, You May Have a Ph.D.-But I Know G.O.D.  I say personal because I have known the author and her family for over 30 years. I can testify to the fact they truly know the God of this story. It is not only a well-written book, but it will also build your faith, enrich your life, and make you grateful for every breath you breathe in health.

A heart wrenching and realistic account of this mother's battle to keep her son alive after a tragic church bus accident that killed 4 people.  You can’t put it down. A must read.

I saw your story today on the 700 Club.  My niece was in a car accident about three weeks ago
and they are saying she may be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life. She is going to be 16 on July 7 and we are devastated.  Your story gave me hope.  I truly feel God will heal her and it will be a total healing just like Jeremy’s.
-In Christ, Gracie

I surprised my husband by reading You May Have a Ph.D. but I know G.O.D. so quickly. I'm a slow reader. I couldn't put the book down, especially with the personal impact the bus crash had on my life. As part of the team who sorted through belongings of those who died and those who survived, I ached for them and their families. I knew these young people, sang with and worshipped with them at Metro Church. And I've known Terri and her two boys for years. Driving to Tyler to sit with the DeShazo-Arnett family after the accident seemed such a small thing in the midst of this tragedy.
One of my greatest joys after Jeremy's recovery was when, at church, he would seek me out to give me a hug. You May Have a Ph.D. but I know G.O.D.is a great testimony to the faithfulness and goodness of God."

The valleys will bring us out of the dark and into the light.  This was – and is – an excellent testimony. You are blessed.

I work with Terri and although I didn't know her at the time of the accident, I have, over the last five year, seen that she lives what she believes.  Her book is something that everyone can relate to in some way and even though it's hard to read, she makes it a lot easier by adding her unqiue humor. You'll laugh and cry even though you know it ends well.  She is the real deal and she has become a close friend.
-Kim Balusek

I am so touched by you video and voice.  Thank you for sharing.  It’s nice to feel the words being sung when music comes from the heart its alive and can identify with a lot you say God bless.

What a wonderful testimony and beautiful voice. I have lost my son and it is a pain no parent should experience. God had a purpose for you and Jeremy and I am sure you are fulfilling his purpose.
God Bless you and your family.
